About this deal

Moving on, the AOC AGON AG493UCX2 has five response time overdrive modes: Off, Weak, Medium, Strong and Boost.

To make the OSD adjustments or select various games modes and gaming-specific features, users can either use the on-board buttons, the included remote control, or the AOC G-Menu software. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. There is also a USB-B upstream (to connect to your PC), and 3 x USB 3.2 downstream ports for connecting peripherals (including one fast-charge B.C 1.2). The monitor’s USB ports can be set to USB 2.0 or 3.2 Gen1*, which is handy if you have external drives or controllers that require a higher standard of USB. Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches. That last one needs a bit of elaborating on: I have my setup configured to have my personal machine on DVI 1 and my work machine on DVI 2. My personal machine has a USB C port (no display over it) while my work computer does not. So I hooked up the standard USB A connector to my work machine and the USB C one to my personal machine.

The picture quality of the AG493UCX2 is decent out of the box, but you’ll need to make a few tweaks to get it looking its best. sRGB display colour is accurate, but the default gamma is inaccurate. Changing to Gamma 2 was closer to the 2.2 curve but still required calibration to reach an acceptable level of accuracy. The operating humidity shows the acceptable level of humidity, in which the display will function flawlessly. It sets a lower and an upper humidity level for safe operation and is measured in percentage. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. Big Sure 11.2 - MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) w/ Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB Panel uniformity is better than I expected for a display of this size. There are a few hotspots where brightness and contrast exceed the nominal limits, but for the most part, it’s in the green.

The monitor has a power switch and integrated KVM functionality, it comes with a remote controller, and one of the USB downstream inputs supports fast charging. Some content might look a bit better to you, but you usually just get a washed-out image or an over-sharpened and over-saturated image with lost details in shadows and highlights, so you’ll most likely prefer to have HDR disabled, as is the case with all edge-lit LCDs. Anyway, what about speed? AOC offers user-configurable overdrive in the OSD menu. In truth, the various levels of overdrive don’t look terribly different subjectively. But at least the fastest mode doesn’t suffer from obvious overshoot and inverse ghosting. In any case, response is best considered good but not quite as sharp as the best 1ms IPS gaming monitors. The remote is a nice welcome. Didn't know i would like/need it till i had it. Trying to control it via the monitor itself is pointless.Approximate width of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. The storage humidity shows the lower and upper humidity limit, which ensures safe storage of the display. Storing it outside these limits might damage the display. There’s a good variety of ports on the AG493UCX2: There are 3x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x USB-C for connecting your displays (USB-C supports the display signal and up to 65W power delivery, as well as supporting KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) if you have your peripherals connected to the display).

Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. WidthAlthough the results on paper aren’t as high as other displays we’ve tested, I was still impressed with the vibrancy of colour, especially at lower brightness levels. The stand comes fully assembled, but rather than just clipping into the panel there are four screws to secure it in place. On our review sample, the holes didn’t line up properly, so I had to screw them in at a slight angle. As they tightened they pulled into line, but it’s a rare bit of sub-par build quality that I don’t expect from AOC. The misaligned screw holes are the only negative I can attribute to the build, though. Everything else is pristinely manufactured, with close-fitting panels and a reassuring heft that feels distinctly premium. The operating temperature shows the safe temperature range (from minimum to maximum), within which the display will function flawlessly. Outside this range it might operate improperly and/or fail entirely. You also cannot display native 1440p at 120Hz on the Series X, as it restricts the max resolution to 1080p if you want to play at 120Hz. This surprised me, as even with an HDMI 2.0 connection you can run 1440p 120Hz on other AOC displays. So yes, you can use the AG493UCX2 for consoles, but it’s not as seamless as you would have hoped.
